Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Energy Nikolai Shulginov stated that gray mining schemes will remain despite restrictions on cryptocurrency mining. According to him, the problem cannot be solved under the current market conditions.
The deputy emphasized that this process cannot be fully administered, and it is unclear how to identify gray miners and how to determine that it is them.
In his opinion, there are no tools to catch this cryptocurrency mining equipment and distinguish it from any other. At the same time, Shulginov added that the emergence of law enforcement practice is still a positive signal, although in its current form the law may not work.
Let us recall that the provisions on mining came into force in Russia on November 1, 2024. All legal entities and individual entrepreneurs mining cryptocurrency are required to register in a special register of the Federal Tax Service.
Individuals do not need to do this, and they can mine using no more than 6 kWh of electricity per month.
