The Bank of Russia, together with the Ministry of Finance and the Treasury, tested operations with the digital ruble as part of the budget process, although it did not specify what operations were being discussed.
The press service of the Ministry of Finance confirmed that the issue of using the digital ruble in the budget process is indeed being worked out, but making any government payments to the population in digital rubles is not yet envisaged.
Representatives of the Bank of Russia reported that they are discussing various scenarios for using the digital ruble at the level of regional budgets, but at the moment no specific region has been allocated for these purposes.
Let us recall that the Central Bank of the Russian Federation began piloting the technology of the digital ruble with real money on a limited circle of clients from August 2023.
Currently, 15 banks are conducting digital currency transactions in test mode, including Sber, VTB, Alfa-Bank, T-Bank, Promsvyazbank and other banking structures.
At the same time, the business community believes that the process of accepting the digital ruble into the infrastructure needs to be extended, since not all companies have the resources to integrate it into payment systems.
